Lamivudine, Perlambat Perkembangan Infeksi HIV

Lamivudine is used to treat infections caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis B virus HIV is the virus that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Lamivudine taken with zidovudine (AZT) or other drugs used to treat HIV.

Lamivudine will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS, but it helps prevent the proliferation of HIV and slow the damage to the immune system. Lamivudine is only available by prescription in the form of a solution and tablets.

To treat infections caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis B virus

dose:
For the treatment of hepatitis B infection:
1. Adults: 100 mg once daily.
2. Children aged less than 16 years: Dosage and usage should be determined by your doctor.

For the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS:
1. Adults weighing 50 kg or more: 150 mg twice daily along with other HIV drugs.
2. Adults weighing less than 50 kg: 2 mg per kg of body weight twice a day along with other HIV drugs.
3. Children aged 3 months: 16 years of age: 4 mg per kg body weight up to 150 mg per dose, twice daily together with other HIV drugs.
4. Children aged under 3 months: The dosage and usage should be determined by your doctor.
